Happy Solstice * A Rosy Bath Ritual * Holly Magic * and a surprise flash sale!
Tonight is the longest night of the year, making tomorrow (Thursday) the day that the light begins returning and the days get shorter. Incrementally, we'll notice our long days of sunshine and green growing things returning... but for me, emotionally and psychically, I notice the shift right away. I want to eat better, to do yoga and move my body, take long walks in spite of the chill. I feel the sun returning in my heart and cells long before I notice the shift with my mind.
My dear friend, and co-teacher for the PlantWitch Herbal Apprenticeship that I'm teaching starting in the spring, put together an utterly scrumptious solstice ritual for you, and also a deep exploration of the magic and medicine of Holly.
Here's a snippet to whet your appetite:
I’ll draw a bath, and add leaves of Holly to my bath water to draw out any residual resentments, anger, or unresolved hurts that may be lingering. The ache of personal misunderstandings that still sting, and global despair that I personally cannot change (oh. I wish I could). Then, I’ll rinse my body with a strong infusion of rose petal tea, as a soothing wash of love. I’ll dry off, wrap myself in a wool blanket, and sit at my alter by candle light. In the quiet and dark, I’ll listen. Listen to the deafening silence for messages, visions, of how I can be of service to my communities, the world...

The magic of solstice is most potent between now and the 28th, which is the New Moon. It's the perfect time for creating intentions for the year ahead, drawing some cards, or crafting a ritual (maybe inspired by Seraphina's above!?) for yourself or a small gaggle of friends.
